Carrie Underwood will play the part of Daniel Powter, Daughtry and Ruben Studdard for Idol's eighth season as her version of rock band Mötley Crüe's song "Home Sweet Home" will be used as the send-off song for each eliminated finalist while their goodbye montages are shown. CMT.com broke the news earlier today in an article, in which Carrie was quoted as saying:"I've always loved this song, and besides being very fitting for Idol, to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes," Underwood said. "So we felt it was important to tie the release into an amazing animal charity like the HSUS."
The single will be available to purchase on digital retailers on Mon., March 16 (according to CMT.com) or Tues., March 17 (according to Amazon MP3). Portions of proceeds from the song will benefit Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).
