Two
Idol alums appeared at the
2008 Academy of Country Music Awards at the
MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Carrie Underwood won Top Female Vocalist, the only award she received a nomination for. She also performed twice, kicking off the show with a high-powered performance of her latest single, "Last Name," and singing a duet of the late Eddy Arnold's "Make the World Go Away" with Top Male Vocalist award-winner and former tour mate
Brad Paisley.
Kellie Pickler was the only other former
Idol finalist to be on-hand, as she lost her only nomination for Top New Female Vocalist to
Taylor Swift. She did, however, use the Awards to launch her new single, "Don't You Know You're Beautiful."
Kelly Clarkson was also nominated for an award, as she and host
Reba McEntire were up for "Vocal Event of the Year" for their duet of "Because of You."
