She elaborated on her charity work including her performances for children's hospitals and the Ronald McDonald house, which she has been focusing on over the past two months, and how she couldn't stop crying when she considered the reality of the trials and tribulations some of these kids go through.
As for her time on Idol, Brooke said the amount of success she's had doesn't pan out to "you made it!" because it's possible to fall into the "Idol black hole" and it's challenging to maintain a presence. She said she dealt with her "post-Idol trauma" (i.e. not being on the show on a weekly basis anymore) by taking her music on the road and pursue her career on an artist's level.

David Archuleta Christmas update
David Archuleta has been making the most of his hit Christmas album Christmas From the Heart, as he's been touring across the country in support of it. But Arch has also been able to contribute to a lot of other projects in his spare time.
David was recently interviewed by Tony Rossi of The Christophers on the podcast "Christopher Closeup," in which he spoke about his experiences caroling around Christmas time as a kid, some of the tracks he recorded for his album and the importance of giving, especially at this time of year. And Arch currently has not one but two free downloads from Christmas From the Heart on iTunes this week, as his rendition of "The First Noel" is included in a 20-song "Holiday Sampler" in addition to Christmas classic from other artists like Amy Grant, Toby Keith and Lady Antebellum. And it was recently announced that David will serve as part of the "Helen of Troy Halftime Show" at the Sun Bowl on Thurs., Dec. 31. From the press release:

Debra Byrd interviewed on "Christopher Closeup"
Idol's vocal coach in chief, Debra Byrd (or simply known as "Byrd" to the finalists), took time in between seasons to speak with Tony Rossi over on his "Christopher Closeup" program. In the interview, Byrd spoke about the impacts different finalists leave on her among other things. Below is an excerpt from the interview:TR: You are the vocal coach and arranger for “American Idol.” But you don’t see that as just a job; you look at it as a ministry. How come?
Byrd also gave a recount of an instance when she had to use patience dealing with the difficulties of of different personalities on the show:
Debra Byrd: I love that it’s a service job. I remember the first tour – we were on the road, Kelly Clarkson was the first American Idol winner and so there was a tour afterwards…I was singing backup for all the contestants that I had just mentored. Band members would say to me, “How can you do that? How can you sing backup for these people? You know more than they (do).” I said, “You don’t understand. I’m here to show them how to do this because it’s a huge undertaking. I get to pass on so much information and I’m grateful to do it.”On “Canadian Idol” there was a contestant that no one liked. Clearly, this young man had huge problems that came from his upbringing...Consequently his perspective on life is incredibly different. He didn’t get along with anyone at all. One of the judges on “Canadian Idol” said, “How do you deal with this kid? How can you talk to this kid every day? This is a horrible human being.” And I said, “Through unconditional love. That’s the only way you can get past him, what he brings to the table. I have to deal with him with unconditional love.”

Kristy Lee Cook interviewed on "Christopher Closeup"
Kristy Lee Cook was interviewed by Tony Rossi the other day on his Sirius-XM radio show "Christopher Closeup," on which she discussed her love for horses and the "Kristy Lee Horse Heaven" foundation in addition to the role her faith has played in her music career. Listen to the interview and read a snippet of the conversation below:
TR: Kristy, when you were on American Idol you faced some challenging times. You were sick for several weeks. You had to endure some, what I thought, were unfair critiques from the judges. When you’re dealing with that kind of stuff, what got you through it mentally, emotionally, spiritually?
Kristy Lee Cook: It definitely was God helping me get through. That was a hard, hard thing to do and God made it easier for me. Everything happens for a reason and this is all part of His plan so no matter how hard it is, you’ve just got to keep going.
