Flashback: Kady Malloy's "Magic Man"

Kady Malloy was considered by many to be a shoe-in for the Top 12 in Season 7 based on her audition, but unfortunately she fell just shy of her goal. Although she had one of the strongest voices in a technical sense, Simon criticized her for "choosing the wrong songs," including her performance of Heart's "Magic Man" during Top 20 week, which can be viewed below:

Although Kady was able to show off more personality thanks to her sultry rendition of this song, it didn't do her any favors in showcasing her voice. This combined with her choice of "Who Wants to Live Forever" the following week just wasn't enough to catapult her into the finals. Still, Kady should be admired for taking risks with her song selection.

Allison Iraheta performs "Barracuda" on 'Tonight Show'

Allison Iraheta last night performed Heart's classic "Barracuda" on NBC's The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Watch the performance below:

"Barracuda" is one of Allison's two songs on the "Idols Live!" tour, which she was promoting on the show. The fourth-place finalist was a last-minute replacement for Kris Allen, who canceled his scheduled appearance due to a death in his family.

Flashback: Carrie Underwood's "Making Love Out of Nothing At All"

Although it was not the most memorable performance on her Idol journey, Carrie Underwood's performance of Air Supply's "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" was an world class offering that came one week before she was crowned the winner. Watch the exhibition below:

The performance was Carrie's second of three during Top 3 week, and was her own choice amid the songs picked by Clive Davis ("Crying") and Randy Jackson ("Man! I Feel Like a Woman!"). It was the second '80s power ballad performed by Carrie during the Top 12, following her groundbreaking take on Heart's "Alone" during Top 11 week. And the note she held at the end still ranks among the longest held by a finalist on the show.
