IDOL LIVE Chat: "Best of the Rest" Auditions (2/3/10)

Tonight Idol's ninth season waves goodbye to the audition rounds (finally!) as the "best of the rest" auditions are shown. Obviously, this also means the "best of the worst" hopefuls will get more airtime, but hopefully the latter will be kept to a minimum.

The live chat will begin at 9 p.m. ET and will last one hour.

There is no guest judge tonight, as it does not take place in a new city, but we'll get to see pretty much every guest judge from the previous seven cities once again. Hopefully they choose to include more Shania Twain and Mary J. Blige than they do Joe Jonas.

IDOL LIVE Chat: Season 9 Premiere (1/12/10)

And so here we are once again. Another January, another American Idol premiere. This season, I will be retiring the CoverItLive software that I've used to live blog each episode of the series' past two seasons in favor of the Meebo chat room. This will take the pressure off me, since my responsibilities will allow me to spend less doing actual blogging this season, and will allow readers to have more input on the show as it happens live.

The live chat will begin at 8 p.m. ET and will last two hours. Therefore, please feel free to contribute anything that's on your mind during the show and I will try to give as much input of my own as humanly possible. Thanks for understanding!

Will Boston finally produce an Idol winner this season? If so, there are pretty good odds you'll get a sneak peek in tonight's two-hour season premiere. And how will former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham do as the season's first guest judge? Time will tell, time will tell.

IDOL LIVE's one-year anniversary

I would like to take this time to thank everyone for visiting IDOL LIVE over the past year. Your comments, loyalty, and input has been greatly appreciated and hopefully you will continue to support this site over the course of the next year. I would not be keeping up with all things Idol like this if I didn't think it served a purpose to fans of the show and its contestants, so thanks again for showing interest.

In an effort to further strengthen the community feeling on IDOL LIVE, I encourage everyone to join our official Google group and to sign up to receive alerts via Twitter for any and all breaking news items that come out of this franchise.

IDOL LIVE gets a makeover

As you may have noticed, IDOL LIVE's layout has been redone in anticipation of what is looking to be a very promising new year. In addition to the layout, there will be a few exciting new features that will be popping up on the site, the first of which is the incorporation of our very own Google group, which can be found here.

On the group, readers can join to be connected with IDOL LIVE in a more efficient way to post feedback, tips & tidbits of what could make good stories for the site and a generally more interactive community setting for readers to converse in. It will also be used as a way to send out breaking news alerts to all members in a more effective manner.

Also coming in the next few weeks is the all important IDOL LIVE blogcast for all American Idol episodes powered by CoverItLive, which will include a host of new improvements to make the blogcasts run as smoothly as possible.

So in order to raise awareness for the upcoming season of Idol it would be helpful if everyone could spread the word around the net and hopefully we can have a great showing for Season 8!
