Diana DeGarmo performed at a celebration for "Go Arts" month in Atlanta, Ga., this afternoon at Underground Atlanta. In addition to speaking with kids that are considering a career in music, Diana performed one of her newest cuts called "Turn to Me," which according to Rodney Ho of AccessAtlanta.com, was only her second live performance of the song. The song was written by Diana, John Rich and Vicky McGehee and is expected to be included on her upcoming country release, which has yet to be completed (it's halfway done).

Keeping up with Mikalah Gordon
Mikalah will also try to hone her skills in the country music arena when she stars in the second season of CMT's Gone Country, on which she will compete for a single to be produced and released by John Rich alongside celebrities such as Jermaine Jackson and NSYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick. The series has already wrapped filming and will debut in August.
After starring as a country singer over in Iraq on CBS' The Unit last October, Mikalah returned to the small screen in May when she hosted David Cook's hometown viewing party at the Kansas City Live! stage in downtown Blue Springs, Mo., Cook's hometown, during the finale of the seventh season of Idol.

John Rich: 'American Idol' infuriates me
Following Paula Abdul's high profile gaffe on Tuesday's performance episode of American Idol, John Rich, a country music producer and member of the duo Big & Rich, went on the attack, voicing his opinions of the talent show.
Rich said the following at an NBC press event, at which he was promoting the upcoming season of Nashville Star, on which he will serve as a celebrity judge.
Rich's comments did not go unnoticed. A statement was issued by FOX in response to the criticism.
"'American Idol' infuriates me as an artist. They're being fake about it. When you can't make a cognizant comment about someone's performance and you're commenting on something that happened the day before, why don't you just walk up onstage and slap them right across the face while you're at it? As an artist, I would just flip them the bird and walk off the stage. ... She wasn't even paying attention to what was going on."
"John Rich's ungentlemanly and opportunistic comments are particularly disturbing considering the fact he attended a taping of 'American Idol' last April, told producers, judges and performers he enjoyed himself and also did an interview with a crew from 'American Idol Extra' where he was extremely complimentary toward the show."One has to agree that even though it comes off as a desperate ploy for publicity for Nashville Star, Rich is voicing true concerns that have been raised after this week's series of events, and should be addressed by FremantleMedia.

2008 CMT Music Awards to be an 'Idol' reunion
Carrie Underwood will be performing and is nominated for Video of the Year for "Wasted" and Female Video of the Year for "So Small," while Kelly Clarkson is nominated alongside Reba McEntire for their duet of "Because of You" for Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year. Kellie Pickler's "I Wonder" is nominated for Tearjerker Video of the Year and USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year in addition to Awards Performance of the Year for her performance of "I Wonder" at the 31st annual Country Music Awards. Bucky Covington is also nominated for USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year for "A Different World," while director Roman White is nominated for Video Director of the Year for three videos, including "Because of You" and "So Small."
Also set to appear is season 3 runner-up Diana DeGarmo, who will introduce Kenny Chesney with John Rich and a few fellow Gone Country stars. To top it off, Paula Abdul will introduce Faith Hill and Tim McGraw.
The show kicks off with live coverage on the red carpet at 7 p.m., followed by the live telecast at 8 p.m. ET, which will be streamed on CMT.com in addition to airing on CMT. A full list of nominees is available here.

Diana DeGarmo loses Gone Country
Diana DeGarmo, runner-up on the third season of American Idol, was not named the winner of CMT's Gone Country, a reality series hosted by John Rich in which seven musicians competed to have a song produced by Rich in an attempt to take a shot at country music. Julio Iglesias, Jr. was instead chosen as the winner.
Diana's live performance of "Right Back Where We Ended," the song she co-wrote with Shanna Crooks, is available to watch on CMT.com. Video and audio downloads of the performance are also available on DianaMedia.net.
