After months of exciting competition, IDOL LIVE's poll of the week champion series for 2010 is finally coming to a close. Per usual, the second-to-last round consisted of the champions from all nine seasons matched up against each other, and the results were among the closest of all rounds this year.
Considering she is probably the most popular winner to date, it's not unheard of that Carrie Underwood would take the title here, as she nabbed 29 of all 94 votes, good for 30% of all votes cast. With this win, Carrie will represent all winners in the finale. Coming up behind her was Jordin Sparks, who took in 17 votes (18%), followed by Kelly Clarkson with 15 votes (15%).
Even David Cook reeled in 13 votes for 13%, and Kris Allen took in 10 votes for 10%. Not surprisingly, the less popular winners didn't do so well in this poll, as Lee DeWyze (4%), Fantasia (4%), Ruben Studdard (1%) and Taylor Hicks (1%) each amounted vote totals in the single digits.
Now that we have had finalists from all nine seasons of all finishing positions square off against each other, it is only fair that the victors from each round take on each other in the finale of the champion series. In this final round of voting, readers will be asked which top-ranked finalist from each placing is their overall favorite of all nine seasons. Voting will be open for not one, but two weeks. Flashback: Judd Harris's "Travelin' Band"
Idol's fourth season was virtually a wash thanks to the superstardom of Carrie Underwood, and it shows when you look at the crew that was left in the dust, especially in the semifinals. Judd Harris was one of those contestants who tried his best but fell short. Watch him perform Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Travelin' Band" during Top 24 week below:
The judges' generic, neither good nor bad comments didn't help Judd's cause, as he blended in with the rest of the 11 guys who performed that night. Despite a good vocal showing, the song choice was completely wrong, and thus Judd had to disappear into obscurity following his elimination.

Flashback: Mikalah Gordon's "Love Will Lead You Back"
Mikalah Gordon is one of the most memorable finalists from Idol's less recent history thanks to her bubbly personality. Her vocals, however, were never impressive while she was on the show, partly because she was only 17 when she finished 11th on the show's fourth season. Watch her performance of Taylor Dayne's "Love Will Lead You Back" below:
Mikalah received mild criticism from Randy and Paula, but Simon unleashed his signature "complete and utter mess" tongue-lashing for her pitchy take on the song. Despite her seemingly weak exit, Mikalah outlasted many others to finish 11th on her season, which should be respected since she was fairly young at the time.

Flashback: Celena Rae's "I Will Love Again"
On the eve of the live performances of Idol's ninth season, let's look back at the third female semifinalist to get the ax in the Top 24 of Season 4. In fact, Celena Rae's performance of Lara Fabian's "I Will Love Again" took place exactly five years ago tonight. Refresh your memories on the performance below:
As expected, lukewarm responses from the judges (especially Paula's kiss of death comment of "you look great") had a lot to do with cutting Celena's Idol stint short, not to mention her sub-par vocals and lack of memorability. Also, there's a reason why contestants shy away from singing "dancey" songs, and Celena's demonstration here is partly to blame (or thank) for that.

Flashback: Jessica Sierra's "On the Side of Angels"
Before she made headlines with a sex tape and extensive stint on Dr Drew's Celebrity Rehab, Jessica Sierra was a finalist on the fourth season of Idol. During Top 10 week, Jessica sang "On the Side of Angels" by LeAnn Rimes for "90s Week." Watch the performance below:
Despite a few strong performances up until this point, Jessica went home following this performance. Simon maintained that well she sang the song well, she was forgettable.

Flashback: Bo Bice's "In a Dream"
Bo Bice is often overlooked when it comes to Idol runners-up nowadays, but it's important to remember his many outstanding performances while on the show. One of his strongest offerings came in the form of his a capella rendition of "In a Dream," which he performed during Top 3 week. Relive the moment below:
This performance single-handedly rewarded Bo with a spot in the finale, and even though he was no match for Carrie Underwood that season, his valiant effort should not be ignored.

Poll of the week: "Idols Live!" 2008 is fave
In results that could be seen only as an overwhelming sense of nostalgia for Season 7, voters in IDOL LIVE's poll of the week chose that season's "Idols Live!" tour as their favorite.
It was nothing short of a slaughter in last week's poll, with 243 votes going to the tour for the season of the Davids in 2008. That's a ridiculous 94% total take of the 256 votes cast in all. None of the other tours got so much as an honorable mention.
In this week's edition of the poll of the week, readers are asked which lead-off single of Carrie Underwood's is their favorite. Voting will be open for exactly one week.

Flashback: Anthony Fedorov's "I Surrender"
Anthony Fedorov surprised many as a darkhorse on Idol's fourth season, though he was never able to escape the shadow of good friend and eventual champ Carrie Underwood. One of his standout performances came Top 6 week when he took on Celine Dion's big ballad "I Surrender" for 21st Century theme night. Relive the performance below:
Despite the vocal acrobatics Anthony showed off during this performance, it was not enough to keep him from visiting the bottom two, where he was spared elimination in favor of Constantine Maroulis. Still, Anthony was able to last another two weeks, and this performance can largely be deemed responsible for extending his stay on the show.

Flashback: Janay Castine's "Hit 'Em Up Style"
Anyone remember Janay Castine? The 17-year-old made it all the way to Top 16 in Idol's fourth season, but after delivering this performance of Blu Cantrell's "Hit 'Em Up Style" in Top 20 week, it is amazing to think she made it as far as she did. Relive the scariness of the performance below:
Simon was right on the money talking about her facial expressions looking like she was watching a horror movie, as this performance earned her the nickname "bug eyes." Janay's dance moves and awkward facial expressions earned the performance the no. 3 spot on AOL Television's "Top 20 Worst 'American Idol' Performances Ever" countdown in 2008.

Flashback: Constantine Maroulis' "I Can't Make You Love Me"
Constantine Maroulis was known more for his high energy rock performances than he was his low-key ballads on the fourth season of Idol, but his take on Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" for the Music of the '90s theme during Top 10 week showed a different side of him. Watch the performance below:
Although his vocals were a little bit underwhelming, Constantine sure knew how to work the camera, with every technique in the book utilized from his longing gazes into the camera to running his hand through his hair. The performance was not one of his best, but it did a lot for Constantine in terms of showing his versatility when it came to the type of music he could tackle while on the show.

Flashback: Anwar Robinson's "I'll Never Love This Way Again"
Season 4 was an interesting one because although Carrie Underwood was pretty much the favorite to take the Idol crown the whole season, there were a few dark horses that gave her a run for her money. One of those few was Anwar Robinson, a music teacher that Randy once said was technically the best singer. On Top 8 night, Anwar chose to sing "I'll Never Love This Way Again," and he gave some credence to the aforementioned comment, as it was perhaps his best known deliverance on the stage. Although Anwar had a good amount of steam in the beginning of the season, he was quickly lost in the shadow of Carrie and only managed a seventh-place showing. Still, "I'll Never Love This Way Again" remains one of the highlights of the season.
