All Idol-related entries on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the chart week of Sept. 5 saw positive movement, which is something that has not happened in a while.
Naturally, Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield" kicked things off at #16, down one spot from the previous week. The song's ability to hang inside the Top 20 shows that it deserves a good deal of credit even though it is often talked of as an underwhelming single.
Up next was Daughtry's "No Surprise," which inched ahead #25-23 on the heels of steady sales and airplay gains, while Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone" witnessed the highest jump among alums, as the single was up 14 spots to #65.
And it was David Cook's "Come Back to Me" that worked its way back into the Top 80, as the slow-moving song was up #88-80.

'Idol' Hot 100: "Battlefield" #16 (8/22/09)
Another track by an Idol alum made its debut on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the chart week of Aug. 22, as pre-existing entries from the franchise had mixed movements.
Kicking things off was Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield," which slid three spots to #16, marking its third-straight week inside the Top 20. The next Idol-related track actually saw positive movement, as Daughtry's "No Surprise" rose five spots to #27.
Holding steady on the lower half of the chart was David Cook's "Come Back to Me," which charted at #87 for the second week in a row, and Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone" made its debut on the chart at #89.

Sales of tracks by Idol alums were split in terms of positive and negative movement on the most recent edition of the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart.
As usual, Jordin Sparks led all other entries from the franchise with her single "Battlefield," which took in an additional 65.1k downloads despite a two-spot slide to #13. It was down 15% sales-wise and has amassed a total of 686k to date.
Next up was Daughtry's "No Surprise," which was down in the count by two spots to #37 thanks to a 10% dip in sales to 33.7k downloads. Its total is now 613.7k. Kelly Clarkson's next single "Already Gone" followed at #68, up a whopping 32 spots from the previous week, with 23.9k tracks sold. Its sales were up by 41% and now has a total of 125.5k.
And David Cook was once again playing the familiar role as the ninth batter in the lineup, as his "Come Back to Me" lallygagged at #139, up 12 spots, thanks to a boost from his performance of the song on Good Morning America. It was up 5% in sales and has sold 308.9k to date.

Cook, Kris and Adam perform on 'Good Morning America'
It was an all-Idol affair on this morning's episode of Good Morning America, as David Cook, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert each performed as part of the program's Summer Concert Series in New York City's Central Park. Just one week after Kelly Clarkson headlined the same concert, the three male alums took to the stage to perform either their current single (in the case of Cook) or a song from the current "Idols Live!" tour (in the case of Kris and Adam). Both Kris and Adam are in town to perform in concert with the rest of Season 8's Top 10 finalists as part of the Idol tour at Atlantic City, N.J.'s Boardwalk Hall tonight and the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., tomorrow and Sunday. Cook is currently in an in-between period and will resume his tour on Wed., Aug. 13 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

Digital sales roundup: "Battlefield" #11 (7/31/09)
A controversy surrounding one song was responsible for a large surge in sales while other Idol-related tracks slipped a bit on the most recent edition of the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart.
Coming off her debut week, Jordin Sparks saw sales for her single "Battlefield" slide 24% to 76.8k, falling four spots on the chart to #11. After acquiring gold status last week, the song has now sold 620.9k.
Up next was Daughtry's "No Surprise," which continued its steady decline with an 18% sales decrease to 37.5k. Its was off nine spots to #35 and has now sold 580k downloads in all. The only Idol-related track to see positive movement on the chart, Kelly Clarkson's controversial "Already Gone," moved 17k in downloads thanks to a 252% sales increase, most likely caused by a combination of the song's music video release and the back and forth debate with Ryan Tedder that was sparked by comments Kelly made about the song sounding similar to Beyonce's "Halo," another Tedder track. It debuted at #100 on the chart and has sold a total of 101.6k to date.
And once again, David Cook brought up the rear with his "Come Back to Me," which sold another 10.4k despite a 23% drop in sales and a #120-151 slide on the chart. Its total now stands at 298k.

'Idol' Hot 100: "Battlefield" #10 (8/8/09)
A few small movements were overshadowed by one big jump in terms of Idol-related singles on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the chart week of Aug. 8.
Leading the charge was Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield," which entered the Top 10 for the first time in its existence thanks to a sales boost from the release of her sophomore album by the same name. The song was up 15 spots to #10, marking the song's peak to date. Jordin makes Idol history by becoming the first alum to have their first five singles (including the coronation single) chart in the Top 20 portion of the Hot 100 (previous peaks include "This Is My Now" #15, "Tattoo" #8, "No Air" #3 and "One Step At a Time" #17). Jordin also saw her album track "Walking On Snow" just miss the Hot 100, instead landing at #2 on the Bubbling Under chart.
Aside from Jordin, the rest of the Idol-related activity on the chart was boring. Daughtry's "No Surprise" fell one spot to #28, despite continued strong sales of the band's sophomore album Leave This Town. Kellie Pickler's best-selling single "Best Days of Your Life" continued to show its muscle, rebounding #52-50.
And David Cook's "Come Back to Me" was in familiar territory, as it hung out on the lower rungs of the chart once again, slipping one spot to #79.

Digital sales roundup: "Battlefield" #7 (7/24/09)
An Idol-related album release greatly helped the sales of its title track and current single according to the latest edition of the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart.
Jordin Sparks' single "Battlefield" was up 12 spots to #7 with 101.4k downloads sold, representing an 87% sales surge. The single has sold 544.1k to date, marking a gold certification. Jordin also saw two album tracks from Battlefield chart thanks to the release of the album, with "Walking On Snow" debuting at #79 with 21.2k and second single "S.O.S. (Let the Music Play)" coming in at #147 with 11.5k.
Placing second among Idol alums this week was Daughtry's "No Surprise," which dipped 9% to 46k for a grand total of 542.5k, making it the second Idol-related track to achieve gold certification in this chart week. On the chart itself, it was down two spots to #26.
And David Cook's single "Come Back to Me" was off 3% to 13.5k, dropping #119-120 for a total of 287.6k.

'Idol' Hot 100: "Battlefield" #25 (8/1/09)
There were some nice gains, some unfortunate falls and a few singles resistant to move spots on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the chart week of Aug. 1, as Idol alums saw their singles go in every which way.
Leading off was Jordin Sparks, whose single "Battlefield" was boring this week and took a break by remaining at #25. Look for it to see an uptick on the chart next week thanks to the release of Jordin's sophomore album.
Daughtry was up next with "No Surprise," which was up 10 spots to #27 thanks to the release of the band's album Leave This Town. Another song from the album, "You Don't Belong," debuted on the chart at #95.
A pair of Kellie/ys followed, with Kellie Pickler seeing her "Best Days of Your Life" rise two spots to #52 while Kelly Clarkson's "I Do Not Hook Up" took a hefty fall down #39-53.
David Cook brought up the rear with his single "Come Back to Me" at #78, up six spots from the previous week.

Digital sales roundup: "Battlefield" #19 (7/17/09)
It was a much healthier selection of tracks by Idol alums on the latest Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart, as the release of Daughtry's new album breathed new life into the franchise's lacking assortment of late.
But it was Jordin Sparks who kicked things off, as her current single "Battlefield" increased in sales by 9% ahead of her sophomore album's release. "Battlefield" was up #37-19 and sold another 54.2k, putting its total at 442.7k. It should go gold in time for next week's chart.
Daughtry followed closely behind with "No Surprise," which added 25 spots to its ranking at #24 thanks to a 39% uptick in sales. The release of Leave This Town was undoubtedly responsible for a chunk of the extra 50.5k tracks that were downloaded, resulting in a near-gold total take of 496.5k. The band saw two of its album tracks debut on the chart as well, with "You Don't Belong" entering at #71 with 24.3k and "Life After You" barely making the cut at #200 with 8.1k.
Another new entry on the chart came in at #114, as Brooke White's cover of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" earned 15.2k worth of sales. Brooke's new album High Hopes & Heartbreak was released to iTunes one week early and featured prominent ads on the music store's main page, which greatly helped digital sales.
Rounding up the pack in terms of Idol representation was David Cook and his "Come Back to Me," which was up 33 spots to #119 thanks t a small 9% sales increase. The single sold 13.9k for the week and is now up to 274.1k in all.

'Idol' Hot 100: "I Do Not Hook Up" #27 (7/11/09)
The Idol roster found on Billboard's Hot 100 chart was a little healthier than the one found on its Hot Digital Songs chart, as six songs by five alums were able to make the cut for the chart week of July 11.
Kelly Clarkson kicked things off once again with "I Do Not Hook Up," which was down two spots to #27. Kelly also saw her "My Life Would Suck Without You" actually rise four spots to #44 for the week.
Jordin Sparks' current single "Battlefield" was also up into positive territory, as it barely re-entered the Top 30 at #30. Next up was Daughtry's latest, "No Surprise," which jumped six spots to #39, while Kellie Pickler's "Best Days of Your Life" held steady at #46.
David Cook's "Come Back to Me" rounded out the Idol representation at #73, up two spots from its placement the previous week.

'Idol' Hot 100: "I Do Not Hook Up" #25 (7/4/09)
Things are getting tighter on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for singles by Idol alums as evidenced by the entries for chart week of July 4.
Leading the way once again was Kelly Clarkson's "I Do Not Hook Up," which slipped one spot to #25. Her veteran hit, "My Life Would Suck Without You," however, took an amplified fall to #48, down from #46 the week before. Next up was Jordin Sparks, whose single "Battlefield" had an impressive 15-spot advance to #31, showing that its run to the top of the chart is far from over.
Also climbing in the rankings was Daughtry's "No Surprise," which had a three-spot gain to #45. Kellie Pickler's single "Best Days of Your Life" was one spot behind after growing #50-46, and David Cook's "Come Back to Me" rounded out the Idol representation by staying at #75 for the second week in a row.

Digital sales roundup: "Battlefield" #21 (6/19/09)
Once again, Jordin Sparks was the Idol queen of the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart with her single "Battlefield," which saw a nice advance from the previous week.
"Battlefield" increased in sales by 41% to 54.6k, which launched it forward by 10 spots to #21. It has now sold 240.6k downloads since being released. Also seeing a healthy dose of positive movement on this week's chart was Kellie Pickler's single "Best Days of Your Life," which sold 38.4k and was up #37-35. The single, which was up in sales by a 15% margin, has now officially gone gold with 513.5k sold to date.
Up next was Daughtry's single, "No Surprise," which similarly experienced a 15% uptick in sales to 36.8k downloads. The song was also up two spots to #38 and has now received 336.3k legal downloads. Although Kelly Clarkson's single, "I Do Not Hook Up," sold a comparable 36.6k downloads, it was actually down 5% in sales and seven spots in the rankings to #39. It has sold 444.5k to date and should go gold in the next few weeks.
And David Cook's "Come Back to Me" rounded out the Idol representation at #91, down four spots from the previous week, selling 17.8k downloads. Up 4% from the previous week, the seventh season's winner's single has now sold 215.7k in all.

'Idol' Hot 100: "I Do Not Hook Up" #20 (6/20/09)
It was another semi-uninteresting week on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in terms of Idol-related content, as all Season 8 alums saw their entries drop out of sight for the chart week of June 20.
Kelly Clarkson led things off with her current single, "I Do Not Hook Up," which leap-frogged her other charting song, "My Life Would Suck Without You." The former moved up six spots to #20, while the latter slid three spots to #27.
Next up was everyone's second-favorite blonde country singing Idol alum, Kellie Pickler, whose "Best Days of Your Life" jumped back into the Top 50 thanks to an eight-spot advance to #48. Daughtry followed right behind at #51 with "No Surprise," which improved from #58 the previous week.
Jordin Sparks' "Battlefield" also saw positive movement on the Hot 100, as the single received a 13-spot boost to #65. With a newly-released music video, expect an even higher position on next week's chart. And David Cook rounded things out with "Come Back to Me." The song was up #77-73 for the week.

Digital sales roundup: "Battlefield" #12 (5/15/09)
For the second week in a row, a new release topped Idol representation on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart.
This week, Jordin Sparks saw her latest single "Battlefield" debut at #12 with 75k downloads sold, which was five spots and 28.5k below last week's big debut from Daughtry. it should therefore be expected that "Battlefield" will enter the Hot 100 outside the Top 20 target zone.
As for Daughtry's "No Surprise," it slipped 34% in sales to 68.8k, down seven spots to #14. It has sold 172.4k in two weeks and should see its weekly takes begin to stabilize over the next few weeks once airplay becomes a major factor.
Next up were a pair of Kelly Clarkson tunes, with "I Do Not Hook Up" leading the charge with a 7% sales gain to 55.7k. It has sold 234.9k despite dropping #20-24 on the chart side. Kelly's other track, "My Life Would Suck Without You," moved another 31.7k for a total of 1.834 million, showing that a landmark double platinum benchmark is clearly within sight. It was down 6% sales-wise and six spots to #44.
An Idol-related single that showed signs of resiliency this week was Paula Abdul's "(I'm Just) Here For the Music," which slipped a minuscule 3% to 24k and fell only six spots to #67. After two weeks the comeback track has sold 48.6k, showing that Paula might have a few mans left after all.
Next Up was David Cook and his latest single "Come Back to Me," which was up 24% to 11.6k and can boast of a 128.3k cume to date. The positive movement was reflected in its chart performance, as it rose #137-115. And rounding things out was Carrie Underwood's goodbye track for the current season of Idol, "Home Sweet Home," which moved another 11.5k thanks to a 28% sales increase and a #142-116 chart advancement. Its total now sits at 255k and should see another nice increase on next week's chart.

Digital sales roundup: "No Surprise" #7 (5/8/09)
The Idol representation on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart was alive and well for the week, as a few performances on last week's results show played a large role in songs that debuted (or in some cases, re-entered) on the chart. The following songs are the ones that had their sales figures made public.
Daughtry stormed backed onto the chart with its new single "No Surprise," and it's no surprise that it debuted to 103.6k downloads for a #7 entrance. This was of course thanks to the band's performance of the song on the show, and some of its older tracks were also beneficiaries of the performance.
"What About Now" was up 224% and re-entered at #113 with another 11.8k downloads sold for a total of 685.1k. "Home," on the other hand, was up 190% and splashed back at #148 thanks to another 8.7k sold, for a grand total of 1.780 million.
Last week's champ, Kelly Clarkson, saw her current single "I Do Not Hook Up" climb 7% in sales to 52k downloads sold, representing a one-spot increase to #20 on the chart. Its total stands at 179.1k. Her other charting song at the moment, "My Life Would Suck Without You," fell #34-38 and dipped 4% in sales to 33.6k for a total of 1.802 million.
A fresh face to the chart was Paula Abdul, as her new single "I'm Just Here For the Music" got off to a good start at #61 thanks to a much hyped performance on the results show, opening with 24.6k. She also had a second song representing her (and Randy Jackson), as last year's "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow" rose exponentially to 9.3k and marked a re-entry at #138, with its total resting at 373.2k.
And David Cook's latest single "Come Back to Me" rose 23 spots to #137 thanks to a 16% uptick in sales to 9.3k (65 more tracks sold than Paula's second one, to be exact). It has sold 116.7k in all to date.

'Idol' Hot 100: "My Life Would Suck Without You" #12 (4/18/09)
It was a mixed bag on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for tracks by Idol alums for the chart week of April 18, as two singles slid while one rose and another debuted.
For the first time since the chart week of Jan. 31, Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" fell out of the Top 10, as it dropped #7-12 due to a good amount of advancing tracks. It spent 10 weeks in the Top 10, which is a great showing.
Also witnessing backward movement on the chart was Carrie Underwood's "I Told You So," which slid #25-33. It should expect another rise on next week's chart thanks to her performance of the song on the ACM Awards. David Cook's "Come Back to Me," on the other hand, debuted at #63 on virtually sales alone, riding a wave of publicity from his performance of the song on last week's Idol results show.
One single by an alum that saw positive movement on the Hot 100 was Jennifer Hudson's "If This Isn't Love," which rose four spots to #87.
On the Bubbling Under chart, Kellie Pickler's "Best Days of Your Life," which was rose #11-3 and was kept from making it onto the main chart for one more week. Expect it to shoot onto the chart next week thanks to her performance on tonight's results show.

Leading the pack once again was Kelly Clarkson, whose single "My Life Would Suck Without You" continued its downward slide as it slipped 26% in sales and five spots on the chart to #15. It sold another 74k downloads for a total of 1.584 million, though, so when looking at its numbers from that vantage point things look pretty solid.
Following Kelly was Carrie Underwood with her single "I Told You So," which fell #15-33 thanks to a 33% sales decline. It moved another 43.3k downloads and now totals 330k. The single should see another boost on next week's chart thanks to Carrie's highly-rated performance on the ACM Awards.
Then there was Cook, whose second single "Come Back to Me" saw a 999% sales increase thanks to an appearance on last week's Idol results show. It was launched onto the chart at #40 with 39.4k and now has its total standing at 59.8k. Look for a big drop next week.

Out today: George Huff's 'George Huff'
Season 3's fifth-place finalist George Huff sees his sophomore album released today. The self-titled gospel album, courtesy of Koch Records, marks George's return to the recorded music scene after releasing his debut album Miracles back in October 2005.
The rest of the listings in this week's post were released sometime in the past week. Chris Botti's CD/DVD live album Chris Botti in Boston, which features Katharine McPhee performing "I've Got You Under My Skin," debuted last Tuesday.
Also out one week ago was LaKisha Jones' new single "Let's Go Celebrate," which is off her forthcoming debut album So Glad I'm Me (May 19). And then there are two music videos: David Cook's "Come Back to Me" video and Kellie Pickler's "Best Days of Your Life" video, both of which were out last week.

Cook's "Come Back to Me" music video premieres
In a coordinated effort to maximize exposure, David Cook's music video for his second single "Come Back to Me" premiered on ATT.com earlier this evening just hours before he launched the song by having a pre-taped performance air on the Idol results show. A 30-second preview of the video was also shown in a commercial break during the results show. Watch the video, which was directed by Gavin Bowden, below:
The video is set in an airport terminal and features a cool filming technique where Cook is shown doing everything backwards while the camera films in reverse, creating a dream-like effect. The video has a cool concept and makes the single's release a little more bearable, as it livens it up a bit.

Impacting radio: March 10-April 7
The following are future single releases set for Idol alums over the course of the next month. The most impressive schedule at the moment is for David Cook, who is getting to simultaneous single releases to three separate formats, as the safe "Come Back to Me" hits airwaves at Top 40/Mainstream and Hot/Modern/AC on March 17 and 30, respectively, while the edgier "Bar-ba-sol" gets a shot at Rock on March 23.

Elliott Yamin's "Fight For Love" should be revving up for airplay come Tuesday, but so far it seems pretty quiet for the Season 5 soulman. Kelly Clarkson's "I Do Not Hook Up" has already received four spins according to Mediabase, despite the fact that its adds date is still more than a month away. Looks like kelly will have another hit on her hands if everything goes according to plan.
