CBS using Daughtry's "Ghost of Me" in 'CSI: Miami' promos

Chris Daughtry is no stranger to the CSI franchise, as he has guest starred fulfilling the role of one "Mac Taylor" on the 100th episode of CSI: NY, last year. Now his band's music is being used to promote the eighth season of CSI: Miami. Watch the TV spot featuring "Ghost of Me" below:

This is not the first time Daughtry's music has been featured in promo spots, as five different songs including "Home" and "No Surprise" were used to promote various ESPN programs beginning in July. CSI: Miami kicks off the new season on Mon., Sept. 21.

Katharine performs "It Won't Hurt So Much" on 'CSI: NY'

Katharine McPhee's much anticipated guest starring role on CBS' popular crime show CSI: NY last night aired. The premise of the episode was the forensics crew and its mission to unravel a case of murder and stalking, which revolved around Kat's struggling musician character. Watch a clip of her singing an original song called "It Won't Hurt So Much" below:

The full episode will be added to CBS.com sometime later today, so keep checking back for it. Even though the entire episode was centered around Kat's character, she only received roughly five minutes of screen time when including photos of her, an audio recording of her voice and flashbacks.

Promo of Katharine's appearance on 'CSI: NY'

CBS is ratcheting up the promotion for next week's episode of CSI: NY, which will feature Katharine McPhee as its guest star. Watch the promo (complete with Kat singing in the background) below:

The episode will air on Wed., April 8 at 10 p.m. ET. It is the latest in a string of CBS series that have featured musicians as guest stars this year, following Ashlee Simpson on CSI: NY and Hilary Duff on Ghost Whisperer.

Katharine is the first Idol alum to fulfill a guest role on the show, but not the first one to participate in the CSI franchise, as Chris Daughtry appeared on the original series late last year.

Katharine to perform at National Memorial Day Concert

Katharine McPhee will be performing at the 2009 National Memorial Day Concert on the west lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building on Sun., May 24. The event will be broadcast live on PBS at 8 p.m. ET. If anyone is planning on attending the concert in person, a few tips have been posted on PBS's Web site:

General Admission gates will open at 5:00PM. The public will not be admitted to the West Lawn of the Capitol before that time. Checkpoints will be set up for search of bags and parcels. Guests will be required to enter through a metal detector. Access is at the Southwest corner of the Capitol grounds.

Fans can RSVP to the event via an event page created for the concert on Facebook. It will be hosted by CSI: New York's Gary Sinise.

Kat on the set of 'CSI: NY'

It looks like Katharine McPhee has already filmed her guest role on the upcoming episode of CBS' CSI: NY, as made apparent by the photo of her with the hit crime drama show's main star, Gary Sinise. People.com reports the following:

Katharine McPhee guest stars on an upcoming episode of CSI: NY playing – what else – a singer, and PEOPLE has an exclusive sneak peek. The American Idol Season 5 runner-up is pictured alongside the show's star, Gary Sinise, at the Feb. 18 shoot on the CBS Radford Lot in Studio City, Calif. McPhee, 24, takes on the role of a crime victim who resorts to murder as revenge. The episode is set to air in mid-April on CBS. – Marisa Laudadio

Katharine filmed her scenes for the episode on Wed., Feb. 18. Word is she will in fact be the murderer for this episode. Talk about going against the grain!

'Idol' odds 'n ends: Kat nabs a role on 'CSI: NY'

The following are Idol-related odds and ends that happened this week:

>It was announced Wednesday that Katharine McPhee would be the latest Idol alum to have a guest role on a CBS show, following in the footsteps of Mikalah Gordon and Chris Daughtry. Kat will play none other than a singer on an episode of CSI: NY, which is slated to air sometime in April.

>30-second clips of all the songs on Kelly Clarkson's latest album All I Ever Wanted were today made available on iTunes. Shortly thereafter, the album leaked in full.

>Clay Aiken has been ousted from his record label of four years. According to Billboard, RCA and Clay quietly parted ways a few months ago, but nothing had been made public until today. RCA has now dropped every Idol runner-up it has signed since the show began.

>The full schedule for Jennifer Hudson's tour, which she is co-headlining with Robin Thicke, was revealed this week. The tour will visit 19 U.S. cities between March 31 and May 8, beginning in Albany, N.Y. and finishing in Houston, Tex.

>Ruben Studdard seems to be in a bit of trouble with the tax brigade. According to The Detroit News, Ruben currently owes $254,119 in federal taxes. Maybe sales from his new single "Together" and his upcoming album Love IS will help offset these accumulated no-nos?

'Idol' odds 'n ends: Chris Daughtry on 'CSI: NY'

The following are Idol-related odds and ends that happened this week:

>Chris Daughtry made an appearance on the 100th episode of CSI: New York this past Wednesday. He played the part of "Mac Taylor" - one of many in fact - and had approximately 50 seconds of actual airtime. Not bad for a lead singer of a multi-platinum band.

>In a last minute switch, David Archuleta fan site FansofDavid.com is reporting Jive is releasing "A Little Too Not Over You" over previously announced "Touch My Hand" as Arch's second single. Although "Hand" is still listed as going for adds on Dec. 9 on FMQB.com, the "reliable source" on FOD claims "fans make a difference" in determining singles. What actually happens remains to be seen.

>Jordin Sparks is now featured on WetSeal.com with her new clothing line for the company. Jordin is depicted in five of her creations on the home page.

>Michael Johns yesterday performed in concert at the Ayala Mall in Alabang Town Center, The Philippines. Among the songs he performed were "Purple Rain" and "It's All Wrong But It's Alright."

>David Cook and Clay Aiken both did sessions for AOL Music this past week. Cook performed "Bar-ba-sol," "Declaration," "Heroes," "Lie" and "Light On," while Clay performed "Ashes," "Everything I Don't Need," "On My Way Here," "Something About Us" and "Where I Draw the Line," which is the #1 video on AOL Music at the moment.
