In her final digital single release prior to the release of ‘Unbroken’ (Jan. 5), Katharine McPhee treats fans to “How,” a cool power ballad that showcases her stunning vocals."How" can be purchased at iTunes for $0.99. Unbroken can be pre-ordered at Amazon.com
Written by Lucie Silvas, Mike Busbee and Alexander James, “How” is a moving power ballad that allows McPhee to reach for the heavens with her beautiful use of melisma. The rousing chorus combines with a pop-leaning arrangement, making the song a perfect candidate for a future radio single that could do well on both AC and Hot AC. The lyrics are empowering as well (“Don’t you beat yourself up asking questions / Love’s gonna come your way again / All I want is to be set free / from this pain that is haunting me”).
Katharine McPhee smartly saved one of the best tracks off ‘Unbroken’ for last, and fans will be sure of this come January.
