In what has to be the most obvious result to date of all rounds of this year's edition of IDOL LIVE's poll of the week champion series, Chris Daughtry mopped the floor with his fellow fourth-place finalists.
The Daughtry frontman earned 22 votes in all, good for 50% of the 44 votes cast over the past week. This is Chris's third straight victory in the champion series among finalists in his group.
Even though Daughtry ran away with this round of the poll series, it doesn't mean no other finalist earned votes. Jason Castro's 13 votes (29%) were enough for second place, while Allison Iraheta (four votes, 9%) and new mom Tamyra Gray (three votes, 6%) were further behind in third and fourth, respectively. Unfortunately, three finalists failed to receive a single vote: Josh Gracin (Season 2), LaKisha Jones (Season 6) and Michael Lynche (Season 9).
In the next round, readers will be asked which 3rd-place finalist is their favorite of all nine seasons. Voting will be open for exactly one week.

30 'Idol' alums to partake in Feeding America initiative
Ahead of next week's Idol Gives Back special, FOX today issued a press release with a who's who of former finalists that will be taking part in activities that support Feeding America’s local food banks.
As many as 30 past contestants have signed up to participate in the initiative to sort and prepare food donated to local food banks across the country beginning tomorrow. Below is a full list of scheduled appearances:
TUESDAY, APRIL 13
THE LOS ANGELES REGIONAL FOOD BANK, LOS ANGELES – Kimberley Locke, Didi Benami, David Hernandez, Amy Adams, Chikezie, Mikalah Gordon, Elliott Yamin, Kevin Covais, Michael Johns, LaToya London and Brandon Rogers will pack food in boxes for senior citizens and young children in need at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
UTAH FOOD BANK, SALT LAKE CITY – Megan Joy will assist a group of 30 volunteers who will sort through food-drive donations, divide them into categories and prepare food boxes.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14
GREATER CHICAGO FOOD DEPOSITORY, CHICAGO – Gina Glocksen and Amanda Overmyer will join a group of volunteers to pack disaster relief boxes for Feeding America.
SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE, NASHVILLE –Lacey Brown, Bucky Covington, Melinda Doolittle, Bo Bice, Phil Stacey and Mandisa will work with other volunteers to pack disaster-relief boxes for Feeding America.
FOOD LIFELINE, SEATTLE – Blake Lewis will assist a group of volunteers in sorting and repacking products to be distributed to families in need.
THURSDAY, APRIL 15
JAN HUS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, NEW YORK – Ace Young, Diana DeGarmo, Jorge Núñez, Julia DeMato and RJ Helton will lend a helping hand to hungry New Yorkers by delivering food with City Harvest.
HOUSTON FOOD BANK, HOUSTON – LaKisha Jones will be working with a group of volunteers who will inspect donated food and prepare it to be re-distributed to 400 agencies.
FEEDING AMERICA TAMPA BAY, TAMPA – Melissa McGhee will spread hope to people in need by working with a group of volunteers to sort and package food.
FRIDAY, APRIL 16
UNITED WAY COMMUNITY FOOD, BIRMINGHAM – Ruben Studdard will label cans and pack boxes.
THREE SQUARE, LAS VEGAS – Danny Gokey will assist a group of volunteers to sort through donated food that will be used to feed local families in need.
The two-hour Idol Gives Back special airs Wed., April 21, and will feature appearances by President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, former President George W. Bush, Brad Pitt, Bono, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Annie Lennox, Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban, P!nk, Céline Dion, Robin Williams, Ben Stiller and more.

Poll of the week: Daughtry is favorite 'Idol' parent
Although it was apparent this poll topic was not the most exciting for IDOL LIVE readers, it was probably the most timely one seeing that Jessica Sierra had just given birth to a new baby boy. Surprisingly (or maybe unsurprisingly), Jessica failed to take in a favorite vote here, but a much more popular Idol parent flexed his muscle.
Chris Daughtry took this contest easily, garnering 21 votes (50%), which was way ahead of Bo Bice's eight votes (19%) and Josh Gracin's five votes (11%).

Poll of the week: Daughtry's 'Daughtry' still tops among 4th-placers
Although there as not nearly the amount of excitement surrounding fourth-place finalists' albums as there was in last week's collection of feelings on albums from runners-up, the latest edition of IDOL LIVE's poll of the week found that one alum from the former category ran away with the competition.
Daughtry's mega-successful debut album Daughtry was selected by readers as their favorite one by a fourth-place finisher, garnering 45 votes (60%). The only other entry to attract a mentionable tally was Allison Iraheta's brand new disc Just Like You, which claimed 24% of all votes cast, or 18 in all.

Poll of the week: Daughtry's "It's Not Over" fave debut single from a no. 4
One fourth-place finalist's debut single was clearly preferred among IDOL LIVE readers for the latest edition of the poll of the week series.
The champion of this poll was no surprise. Daughtry's multi-platinum "It's Not Over" received 46 votes, or 55% of the poll's total take. Next up was Jason Castro's "Let's Just Fall In Love Again" with 26 votes (31%), and Allison Iraheta's brand new single "Friday I'll Be Over U" came in at no. 3 with 5 votes (6%).

Poll of the week: Daughtry does it again
For only the second time this year, a Season 5 alum has been deemed the winner of a round in the champion series of IDOL LIVE's poll of the week.
Although it was a close one near the poll's end, Chris Daughtry was able to nab first place thanks to 23 votes (36%), which means he will represent all fourth-place finalists in the finale of the champion series. Although Allison Iraheta's fans put up a good fight, she ended up finishing a close second with 19 votes (30%).
Farther behind with 11 votes (17%) was Season 7's Jason Castro, and no other contestant polled over 4%.
As we approach the final weeks of the IDOL LIVE poll of the week champion series, the next installment asks readers which third-place finalist is their favorite of all eight seasons. Voting will be open for exactly one week.

Flashback: LaToya London's "Don't Rain On My Parade"
The early favorite to win the whole thing back in Season 3, LaToya London, was prematurely eliminated during Disco week, finish in fourth. One week earlier, LaToya gave her most memorable performance since her "All By Myself" launched her into the Top 12, as she took on "Don't Rain On My Parade" as one of her selections for Big Band week in the Top 5. This performance was a little out of character for LaToya, which is in part why it worked so well for her. Instead of her usual power ballads, LaToya was able to step out of her comfort zone and win praise from all the judges, including Simon giving her a "10 out of 10," which is something rare in and of itself.

'Idol' odds 'n ends: Carly Smithson to front new band The Fallen
The following are Idol-related odds and ends that happened this week:
>Carly Smithson will serve as the lead singer of a new start-up band consisting of three former members of Evanescence (Ben Moody, and a bassist that worked with Kelly Clarkson and Disturbed. Per the original article by Brian Mason of USA Today:"This all happened by accident," says Smithson, who sang Evanescence's Bring Me to Life during the 2008 Idols Live tour. She's friends with Moody's housemate, Monique Morrison. "I met him once or twice (at the house) before the band thing," says Smithson, who had been working on a solo project.
The Fallen will release its first single, "Bury Me Alive," on their official Web site (WeAreTheFallen.com) on Monday and plan to release songs individually over the course of the next year and a half before working on an album.
>People magazine's 10th annual "Hottest Bachelors" edition was revealed this week, and a certain Idol runner-up made the cut. Adam Lambert was named as one of the hottest bachelors alive. Upon hearing the news, Adam said:"Am I really? I'm not hot!" Adam Lambert responds in disbelief when Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell reveals the news that he is listed on People magazine's 10th annual list of Sexy & Single Men in 2009. He, however, quickly adds, "That's pretty cool. That's really cool."
The current issue of People is now available on newsstands everywhere.
>Another runner-up was in the news this week, but for more negative reasons. David Archuleta's father, James Jeffrey Archuleta, was nabbed for solicitation of a prostitute at a massage parlor back in January in Midvale, Utah. Archuleta's attorney, Erik Bauer, responded to the news:“He did not go there for sex and that was it and pure, plain and simple that’s the way it was,” Bauer said. “He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He’s a good man and we hope this story won’t cause his family any embarrassment.”
The services reportedly cost $582, so it seems that Arch Sr. asked for the works.
>Chris Daughtry appeared on FOX Business Network's America's Nightly Scoreboard on Tuesday to promote his band's forthcoming album Leave This Town. Watch the interview below:
Chris discussed the diversity of the music found on Leave This Town and responded to a question regarding the possibility of attempting to do musical theatre in the future, saying that he's thought about it and has done some acting (like the 100th episode of CSI: NY) but he is solely focused on music at this point.

More photos from the shoot can be seen here.Fantasia will next return to the musical The Color Purple as Celie, only this time she will be joining the national tour for its Washington D.C., Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles dates. The tour currently stars Fantasia's fellow Season 3 alum LaToya London. In addition to the tour, Fantasia will have the chance to reprise the role of Celie on the silver screen when she begins filming later this year.

LaToya London promotes 'The Color Purple' in Boston
Currently in Boston starring in the national tour of Oprah Winfrey's Broadway musical The Color Purple, LaToya London today made the rounds on local morning shows to promote the show. She first appeared on FOX 25 Morning News. Watch the interview below:
In the chat, LaToya talked about how surprised she was with how the audience reacted to the preview show held last night. She said The Color Purple is a part of history and she is so proud to be a part of the production.

Keeping up with LaToya London
LaToya London may have been considered one of the favorites on the third season of Idol, but she was not able to keep her bright fire of megastardom alive following the conclusion of the season with a fourth-place finish. She has, however, found a niche career in musical theatre, which has served her very well thus far.
LaToya released her debut album, Love & Life, in Sept. 2005 on Concord Music Group (Peak Records). It has sold roughly 58k copies to date, which is not stellar but is surely better than a lot of other albums by Idol alums. It spawned three singles including "Appreciate," which hit #8 on the Billboard Singles Sales Chart.
Now known to her fans as "London," LaToya can be found starring as Nettie in the U.S. tour of Oprah Winfrey's musical The Color Purple, which is currently playing at the Sacramento Community Center Theatre in Sacramento, Calif., and will wrap up in Boston on June 28, 2009 at The Wang Theatre.
Prior to the tour, LaToya starred in the Chicago production of the show. Also on the performing arts front, LaToya starred in the comedic stage show Issues: We All Have 'Em and the musical Beehive in 2006.
She is currently looking for a home for her sophomore album after getting out of her three-album record deal with Concord/Peak Records.

Carrie Underwood told Us magazine that she "loses all respect" for celebs when they back a candidate because "Music is where you go to get away from all the BS." Chris Daughtry, although rumored to be supporting John McCain, said he did not want to publicly state who he was voting for.

Jennifer issues a statement
Jennifer Hudson issued a statement via a blog entry on her official music MySpace page Sunday thanking fans for the outpouring of support that she has received since news came of the slayings of her mother and brother and the kidnapping of her 7-year-old nephew.
In the entry, Jennifer said the following:Thank you all for your prayers and your calls. Please keep praying for our family and that we get Julian King back home safely. If anyone has any information about his whereabouts please contact the authorities immediately. Here is a picture of Julian and what he was last seen wearing. Once again thank you all for being there for us through this tough time.
The statement was signed "The Hudson Family." So far, police have named William Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer's sister, Julia, as a "person of interest" in the killings and kidnapping. According to The Associated Press, however, he has not officially been charged with the crimes. Two photos of Jennifer's nephew, Julian King, were included in her blog entry.
Former Idol finalists from Season 3 have spoken out in support of Jennifer including LaToya London, who said "My heart, my prayers and love go out to Jennifer and her family" and Diana DeGarmo, who said "My thoughts and prayers are with you, Jennifer and we are here for you."
Jon Peter Lewis probably summed it up best when he called the situation "Senseless beyond speech," following it up with "Infuriating. Confusing. Heartbreaking. There are no words that could describe the loss you must feel."

Poll of the week: J-Hud owns ths spotlight
In the third installment of the debut album champion series for the IDOL LIVE poll of the week, Jennifer Hudson's self-titled album owned the spotlight. It placed first among the nine albums from Season 3 finalists that were included in the poll, taking in 17 votes, or 45% of the poll's total take. The fact that Jennifer's album was the most recent one to be released most likely helped her out in this poll.
Coming in second was Blue Skies, Diana DeGarmo's debut album. It beat out Fantasia's Free Yourself, taking eight votes to the latter's seven. Respective percentage totals were 21% and 18%.
The only other albums to take in any votes were Jon Peter Lewis' Stories From Hollywood and Jasmine Trias' self-titled effort. Hollywood received three votes (8%), while Jasmine Trias got two votes (5%).

IDOL LIVE poll of the week - Daughtry squeaks out a win
Chris Daughtry is the fourth-place finalist of choice according to IDOL LIVE readers, as Season 5's breakout star scored 48% of the vote in last week's poll of the week. Although he won with 17 votes, Season 7's Jason Castro almost pulled off an upset, as he scored 42% of the vote with 15 votes. All other votes were negligible in comparison.
