In one of the last few rounds of IDOL LIVE's poll of the week champion series for 2010, one 3rd-place finalist edged out her peers in a fairly close battle.
Melinda Doolittle's 12 votes were enough to earn her 29% of all 41 votes cast, which was the largest take of all nine participants included in this round. The sixth season's second-runner-up saw her closest competition come from Elliott Yamin, who garnered nine votes (21%), followed by Danny Gokey's seven votes (17%).
There were only two finalists who failed to grab any votes during the course of the week, as Nikki McKibbin (Season 1) and Vonzell Solomon (Season 4) went scoreless in their attempts.
In the next round (the third-to-last, by the way), readers will be asked which runner-up is their favorite of all nine seasons. Voting will be open for exactly one week.

Flashback: Camile Velasco's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"
Back on Idol's third season Camile Velasco took on Jasmine Trias in the "battle of the pretty Hawaian girls," and as Top 9 week demonstrated the competition was only big enough for one of them. As a result, Camile's version of "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" during Elton John week ended up being her swan song while Jasmine narrowly escaped elimination. Watch the performance below:
Camile gave it her best but the song was too much of a storm for her to weather, and Simon's brutal critique was totally appropriate. Still, Camile has the perfect voice for an R&B career, and hopefully she will be able to make it in the industry sometime soon.

Poll of the week: Syesha's fans put the "yes" in her name
In what can only be considered a last-minute "Hail Mary" of a play in IDOL LIVE's poll of the week champion series, Syesha Mercado was crowned the victor in the Top 3 edition of the poll.
The seventh season's third-place finisher was able to reel in 52 votes (41%), enough to shut down Jasmine Trias' 31 votes (24%), who had been leading for the majority of the week.
The three other finalists that were able to nab similar amounts of votes include Elliott Yamin (15 votes, 11%)m Melinda Doolittle (12 votes, 9%) and Danny Gokey (12 votes, 9%). Season 7 has seen its candidates win each round of the champion series poll with the exception of Top 6 and Top 4.
With just two weeks before the final round of the champion series poll begins, the next installment asks readers which runner-up is their favorite of all eight seasons. Voting will be open for exactly one week.

Out today: 'American Christmas'
An assortment of former Idol contestants tackle some of the most beloved Christmas tunes of all time on the compilation album American Christmas. 'American Christmas' set for Nov. 25 release
After testing the waters last November with an independent soft release for Idol Christmas compilation American Christmas, Chenoa Records is pairing up with EMI for the re-release of the disc with an expanded tracklisting and assortment of Idol alums.
The album will be released in stores nationwide including Walmart and Borders and is currently available to pre-order on Amazon.com. Below is the official tracklisting:

Poll of the week: J-Hud owns ths spotlight
In the third installment of the debut album champion series for the IDOL LIVE poll of the week, Jennifer Hudson's self-titled album owned the spotlight. It placed first among the nine albums from Season 3 finalists that were included in the poll, taking in 17 votes, or 45% of the poll's total take. The fact that Jennifer's album was the most recent one to be released most likely helped her out in this poll.
Coming in second was Blue Skies, Diana DeGarmo's debut album. It beat out Fantasia's Free Yourself, taking eight votes to the latter's seven. Respective percentage totals were 21% and 18%.
The only other albums to take in any votes were Jon Peter Lewis' Stories From Hollywood and Jasmine Trias' self-titled effort. Hollywood received three votes (8%), while Jasmine Trias got two votes (5%).
In this week's poll of the week, readers will be asked to vote for their favorite debut album from a Season 4 alum. You have exactly one week to vote.

Jasmine Trias to perform in "Sister Act" concert
Season 3's second runner-up, Jasmine Trias, will appear in "Sister Act" - a concert that will be held at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The concert's purpose is to inspire area children interested in tackling a career in music to follow their dreams.
Jasmine, who is of Filipino descent and calls Hawaii home, will display her own talents alongside the performers, who are also Filipino and range from six to 16 years old.
This is not the first time Jasmine has participated in an inspirational engagement, as she has previously judged a young talent competition on the Tyra Banks Show. "Sister Act" will take place on Sun., Sept. 14.

Rrazz Room roster revealed
A few weeks ago, IDOL LIVE reported on an "Idols in Concert" special that would take place at the Rrazz Room at the Nikko Hotel in San Francisco, Calif.
