HITS estimates: Carrie Underwood's 'Play On' #28 w/ 16k

The most recent edition of HITS Daily Double's Top 50 building album sales chart showed us that we really need a new album from an Idol alum to help breathe some life into the dull sales data.

Although Play On by Carrie Underwood had a fairly decent week with a minute 8% sales dip to 16k copies accompanied by a hold at #28, it wasn't enough to make people excited.

And then there was Danny Gokey and his debut album My Best Days down 11 spots to #30. The album was off another 31% to 15.3k copies, which sin't bad considering the large tumble it suffered last week.

Judging from the past few weeks, full sales data and chart positions courtesy of Billboard will probably not be published later this week.
