HITS estimates: 'Play On' #39 w/ 10.3k

Play OnAlthough sales were down a little bit more this week for the sole Idol alum to be included in HITS Daily Double's Top 50 building album sales chart, things were more consistent that anything.

For example, Carrie Underwood continued to be the only alum to have her album appear on the chart, and based on the past few months, this fact continues to be emblematic of the idea of being "consistent." Her third studio effort, Play On, was down three spots to #39 on the heels of a 10% drop in sales to 10.3k copies. Although it seems that the album could slip below the 10k threshold in the near future, it's important to remember summer usually isn't the kindest sales period for months-old music, so all things considered its 1.658 million total to date looks pretty good after not even a year on the market.

As per usual, Billboard will have official positions available for the Billboard 200 on Thursday.
