This week, Carrie re-works her current single off Carnival Ride, "I Told You So," to include original artist Randy Travis on the chart, making it the second duet Carrie has recorded with a male country artist.

In addition to Carrie's release, another Idol champ sees a digital single release this week, as Ruben Studdard's "Together" drops today. Links to purchase the aforementioned can be found below:

Track review: Carrie's "Home Sweet Home"

In what some may consider to be a very surprising cover, country music’s queen, Carrie Underwood, records her version of Motley Crue’s classic “Home Sweet Home” for the send-off song of the eighth season of ‘American Idol.’

Although her unmistakable vocals carry with them an ever-present country twang no matter what kind of music she records, the production of “Home” is anything but the genre that has become her specialty. It is a midtempo that features more pop/rock elements than one would expect Underwood to lend her vocals to, but she makes it work for sure. Not to mention the fact that the lyrics carry with them the perfect message for the eliminated finalists to embrace their roots and return to the life they have known up till this point.

It’s nothing groundbreaking and it most likely will not light up the country charts, but everything Carrie Underwood seems to touch turns to gold, so “Home Sweet Home” may just turn out to be a surprise after all.

Carrie covers Mötley Crüe for 'Idol' send-off song

Carrie Underwood will play the part of Daniel Powter, Daughtry and Ruben Studdard for Idol's eighth season as her version of rock band Mötley Crüe's song "Home Sweet Home" will be used as the send-off song for each eliminated finalist while their goodbye montages are shown. CMT.com broke the news earlier today in an article, in which Carrie was quoted as saying:

"I've always loved this song, and besides being very fitting for Idol, to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes," Underwood said. "So we felt it was important to tie the release into an amazing animal charity like the HSUS."

The single will be available to purchase on digital retailers on Mon., March 16 (according to CMT.com) or Tues., March 17 (according to Amazon MP3). Portions of proceeds from the song will benefit Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).
