Kelly Clarkson's music director gets "schooled"

Kelly Clarkson was sighted on multiple networks earlier this evening following the profiling of her music director, Jason Halbert, on the kickoff documentary "Get Schooled: You Have the Right." The initiative, which is a co-founded by Viacom and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is a brand-new five-year public service effort to encourage the nation's students to stay in school and graduate. Watch Jason's piece of the documentary below, which shows him pursuing a degree at BerkleeMusic.com:

Others profiled during the half-hour piece include one of President Obama's speechwriters, Sarah Hurwitz, and LeBron James' marketing exec Latesha Williams. The over-sized PSA was simulcasted on Viacom-owned cable operations such as MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central.

Arch's "A Little Too Not Over You" airs on "Crush Night"

"Crush Night" re-aired last night on Nickelodeon, and David Archuleta's abbreviated performance of "A Little Too Not Over You" aired in place of his performance of "Crush." Watch it below:

Arch also today posted a blog entry on his official music MySpace page in which he rambled on about getting to eat dinner with Gavin DeGraw and Tony Orlando:

But Tony and Gavin were to performing in New Orleans too. Tony already performed that night, but Gavin was performing the next day so we went to see him perform. He was great. After him though.... I had a big surprise lol. We didn't know that Sara Bareilles was going to be on after him!! I couldn't believe that I was going to see Sara Bareilles without even planning on it or knowing she was there! Haha it was so cool! She's sooo good live too. I got a chance to talk to her and she was talking about how nice my fans were. So thanks to all of you guys!!

He said he also added new photos to his Web site from the grand opening of the "American Idol: The Experience" attraction and his performance in New Orleans.

Digital sales roundup: "My Life Would Suck Without You" #2 (2/6/09)

Although it was no match for Eminem's new single (it sold 418k!), Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You" finished a strong second on Billboard's Hot Digital Songs chart for the week.

"My Life" slipped to #2 with only a 19% dip in sales to 175.2k downloads, placing its total at 671.1k in just three weeks and officially allowing it to pass the gold mark.

Although David Archuleta's "Crush" looked like it would finish its run in the Top 50 of the chart last week, it managed to hold on for one more week thanks to a performance Nickelodeon's "Crush Night" on Saturday. It fell #44-50, or 5%, to 31.5k, pushing its total to 1.547 million. Arch's other track that re-entered the chart last week, "A Little Too Not over You," did not have figures released, but should say a nice increase next week thanks to an upcoming performance on Nickelodeon airing Saturday night.

Full numbers and chart positions courtesy of bks on Pulse as follows:

002 001 Kelly Clarkson, "My Life Would Suck Without You" 175,191 -19% 216,283 671,079
