It was unveiled today on Katharine McPhee's official MySpace blog that she will be performing as part of an all-star ensemble at Lionel Richie's "An Evening of Stars" gala, which will honor Richie with the "Award of Excellence" courtesy of the United Negro College Fund. Per the blog post:The Award of Excellence, which he will accept the night of the gala, is for the musician’s long and distinguished career as a singer-songwriter-producer and for his history of supporting minority education.
Other artists set to perform at the event include Akon, Jesse McCartney, Natalie Cole and Chrisette Michele. The event will be held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Sat., Sept. 12, in Pasadena, Calif., and will be filmed for broadcast on BET in addition to other various local networks in January 2010.

Jennifer Hudson performs at Michael Jackson's memorial service
Jennifer Hudson was one of a handful of guest performers at the highly publicized public memorial service for Michael Jackson at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif. At the service, she performed Jackson's "Will You Be There," which can be watched below:
Jennifer, who is visibly very pregnant, was the only Idol alum to perform at the service. Other performers included Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey and Lionel Richie.
