Brooke White interviewed on "Christopher Closeup"

Brooke White was Tony Rossi's most recent guest on his podcast for The Christophers called "Christopher Closeup." In the interview, Brooke discussed the lyrics of her songs and how real-life experiences make great songs. She also talked about how a variety of challenges that changed her as a person went into her album process. Rossi played clips of some of Brooke's songs off her latest release High Hopes and Heartbreak, including "Phoenix" and "When We Were Young."

High Hopes and HeartbreakBrooke said her parents knew she had talent before she did, and how other people that came into her path to help encourage her to pursue a career as a singer/songwriter. She also discussed her faith in detail and how she relies on the support of God to anchor her through some of the crazier moments of her performances.

She elaborated on her charity work including her performances for children's hospitals and the Ronald McDonald house, which she has been focusing on over the past two months, and how she couldn't stop crying when she considered the reality of the trials and tribulations some of these kids go through.

As for her time on Idol, Brooke said the amount of success she's had doesn't pan out to "you made it!" because it's possible to fall into the "Idol black hole" and it's challenging to maintain a presence. She said she dealt with her "post-Idol trauma" (i.e. not being on the show on a weekly basis anymore) by taking her music on the road and pursue her career on an artist's level.
