'Idol' Hot 100: "Already Gone" #16 (12/5/09)

An unexpected hit reached a new peak while another Idol-related single surged ahead on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the chart week of Dec. 5.

Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone" rose four spots to #16 following a much talked about performance at the American Music Awards. Huge increases in airplay are also partly to thank for the new peak.

Carrie Underwood was up next with her hit single "Cowboy Casanova," which was down #21-23. And Kris Allen's "Live Like We're Dying" rocketed ahead 29 spots to #41 due to his album's release.
