HITS estimates: 'Play On' #5 w/ 159.4k

The traditional pre-Christmas sales boost was as kind to albums from Idol alums as it was to other albums as made evident by the most recent edition of HITS Daily Double's Top 50 building album sales chart.

Newly engaged Carrie Underwood benefited most from the boost, as her Play On was once again the fifth-best-selling album on the chart, moving an additional 159.4k copies, up 44% from the previous week. The album has now officially sold one million copies, giving it platinum standing.

Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment was the only other Idol-related album on the chart, as it moved ahead three spots to #27 thanks to a 37% uptick. It sold another 62.6k copies.

Full sales numbers and chart positions courtesy of Billboard should either be out by the end of the week or early next week.
