'Idol' odds 'n ends: Kellie reveals year-long depression

The following are Idol-related odds and ends that happened this week:

>Kellie Pickler told People magazine in an upcoming feature story that she has battled depression for the past year, as issues like her mother's efforts to reenter her life and her breakup with NHL player Jordin Tootoo caused her much pain. Said Kellie: "I was just crumbling."

>David Archuleta will perform "God Bless America" during Game 1 of the American League Championship Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays in St. Petersburg, Fla., tonight during the seventh inning stretch. It will be broadcast on TBS.

>Taylor Hicks will release his second post-Idol album via the independent Artist to Market promotional company and his own Modern Whomp Records label. The album is set for an early winter 2009 release.

>Michael Johns performed during Channel 7's 26-hour telethon in Perth, Australia, which took place from Oct. 4-5. He sang "Never Tear Us Apart" among other songs, which can be watched below:



>Katharine McPhee will perform at the Carousel of Hope gala on Sat., Oct. 25 at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. Denzel Washington and his wife, Pauletta, are among the night's honorees.
