'Idol' BB 200: 'Jennifer Hudson' #30 (2/28/09)

For the first time in a long time, David Cook's self-titled album was not the top-placing Idol-related entry on the Billboard Top 200 for the chart week of Feb. 28.

It was Jennifer Hudson's self-titled album that re-took that title, as it jumped 17 spots on the chart to #30 with 25.6k copies, up 112% from the previous week. It has moved 621k total. Cook's album followed right behind, down #29-32 with 24.4k. Its 44% sales incline places its total at 977.7k copies.

David Archuleta's David Archuleta was next, lunging forth 11 spots to #60 thanks to a 34% increase in sales. The album's weekly take of 12.2k copies means its total sits at 639.8k. Carrie Underwood was three spots behind with Carnival Ride, which surged ahead 20 spots alongside a 44% jump in sales to 11.9k, placing its total take at 2.643 million.

In its second week, Melinda Doolittle's debut album Coming Back to You slipped only 19% to 8.7k copies, placing its total at 19.4k. Its performance on the chart was another story, as it plunged #58-92. Daughtry's debut album was still hanging around the depths of the chart, as it moved 6.4k for a total of 4.385 million copies. It was up another 31% and 10 spots to #118 on the chart.

And David Foster's Hit Man CD/DVD combo rounded out the Idol representation, as it slipped one spot to #167 with 4.4k copies sold for the week, up 16%. It has sold 148.7k to date.
