Flashback: David Archuleta's "Longer"

David Archuleta had some pristine vocal performances during his time on Idol during Season 7. One of the more overlooked ones was his rendition of Dan Fogelberg's "Longer," which was selected by producers during Top 3 week. Refresh your memory on the performance below:

Although Arch's vocal abilities were showcased extremely well on "Longer," Simon was right to criticize the song selection for it's "gooey" lyrics and for the fact that it was too old of a song for a 17-year-old. Still, it should be recognized that "Longer" was in part responsible for catapulting Arch into the finale the following week.

Loved it. Don't care he did not win anymore (took me almost a year to get over it) cuz he is doing extremely well now.

I don't know that I had ever heard this song before David sang it or I did not remember it if I had. Now, I will never forget it. I absolutely love it still after hearing it on my ipod for over a year. Now let me go back and watch your vid again, thanks for posting it.

The really over-looked performance of his that week was "And So it Goes." That one was one of the best of the season.

Uh, ya , David, unfortunately had NO say in that song choice! But, he really is a MASTER of vocal abilities! And that will get him a long ways in the music industry. He made that song alive!

david took a ''sow's ear'' and made a ''silk purse''out of it with this song..... was simon criticizing nigel or simon fuller here in the song selection, hahah... oh well, it's water under the bridge now... david has moved far beyond all this, but it's nice reliving these special moment's... thanks for the memories...

I agree that David has moved far beyond what we see here in this performance but it was nice going down memory lane for a minute. I didn't watch back a lot of his performances in the final rounds because like Kietchayrox above, it also took me over a year to get over the fact that he didn't win. But like her (or him) I don't care anymore either since he's gone so beyond idol days and absolutely soaring high!

David Archuleta has come so far from American Idol...he is just an amazing singer / songwriter. I love his soulful / pop sound. American Idol gave David a great start in the music industry and he has moved on and is doing amazing in his career -- which I support all I can. David is just AMAZING in concert and I'm excited because he is putting out a Christmas album called "Christmas From the Heart" on Oct 13! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy!
