Ruben Studdard, Idol's very own "velvet teddy bear" from its second season, was known for his slow and soulful ballads more so than he was his uptempo numbers, and his performance of "A Whole New World" from Disney's Aladdin during Top 11 week's "Movie Night" theme. Watch the performance below:
Despite being early on in the season and lacking the punch that Ruben delivered in later performances like "Superstar" and "A House Is Not a Home," this performance did a lot to position him as an early favorite in the competition.
