HITS estimates: 'Christmas From the Heart' #32

Only one album from the Idol franchise made an appearance on the most recent edition of HITS Daily Double's Top 50 building album sales chart. After a week empty of entries by alums, it was up to David Archuleta's Christmas disc to buck the trend.

Arch's Christmas From the Heart came in at #32 with 16.3k copies. The entry was a little bit below original predictions, which had the album pegged to take in between 18-20k, but these numbers were right in line with the 15-21k predicted based on revised projections released on Friday. Still, this is a healthy total for a mid-October Christmas release. Look for it to make steady progress over the next two months.

Finalized sales figures courtesy of Billboard should be out by the end of the week.

there was a revised estimate sent out by hits daily double on this past friday, which is standard practice for them, that had both david and bob dylan estimated to sell in the 15-21k range. and david exceeded the lower end of the estimate, so he can in right where they had him pegged... way to go for him!

please revise this data in your article.

thanks. excerpt and link below from hdd...

This article is a little misleading... the revised estimate sent by HDD on 10/16 supercedes the original estimate. 15-21k then becomes the revised estimate for the David xmas cd. Seems to me then that he met his estimated sales. This does need to be revised, and reflected in this article for clarity and accuracy.

thank you idol live for the updated info regarding the hdd estimatesfor david's cd - you rock!

for added context, if you look at stats for the average first week sales for Christmas albums in October, it was 11-12K last year. Faith Hill did 12K last year her first week, and wound up selling 450K at the end of it. not saying this is what is expected for this cd...

most folks aren't going to buy a xmas album in the middle of October (they were released October 13, btw).. so, in that context, both Dylan and Archuleta did better than average numbers for the type of album they were selling. kudos to david, and to dylan.
