'Idol' odds 'n ends: Kris Allen to sing National Anthem at Game 2 of NBA Finals

The following are Idol-related odds and ends that happened this week:

>It was today announced that Kris Allen will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Game 2 of the Orlando Magic / Los Angeles Lakers series for the 2009 NBA Championship on Sun., June 7. Hopefully things go over better than David Cook's performance during last year's finals.

>Jordin Sparks' music video for her latest single, "Battlefield," will premiere on MTV on Mon., June 8. The first 30 seconds of the video are now streaming on MTV's Buzzworthy and can be viewed below:

The video was directed by Philip Andelman, who directed the Jonas Brothers' "Lovebug" and Miley Cyrus' "Fly On the Wall" videos.

>Brandon Green, who famously auditioned for the seventh season of Idol after revealing his habit of collecting his own toe nails, will take part in another singing-related reality series when he takes the stage at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville for the second season of CMT's Can You Duet Brandon will be joined by Jonathan Cox to make the duo JB Rocket. The season premieres Sat., June 20 at 8 p.m. ET.

>Another Season 7 contestant that failed to make the Top 24 (eliminated during "the chair" episode), Cardin McKinney, has been taking her career very seriously. Yesterday, she did a recording session with producer/songwriter Desmond Child, and a montage of the meeting can be viewed below:

Cardin has been hard at work in Nashville, and most recently appeared in music videos for Mat Kearney's single "Closer to Love" and Matt Wertz's single "Everything's Right."

>Diana DeGarmo and Anthony Federov will star in the Oklahoma City production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which will run from July 21-25. Diana will play the role of the narrator, while Anthony will be the main man Joseph. Diana has previously starred in Hairspray, BKLYN and most recently Back to Bacharach and David, while Anthony has starred in the off-Broadway production of The Fantastiks.
