Carrie, Kellie receive CMA Award noms

Carrie Underwood is one of seven country music artists to receive multiple nominations at the 2008 Country Music Association Awards. For the third year in a row Carrie is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. She took home the honor in both 2007 and 2006. Carrie's sophomore album Carnival Ride is also nominated for Album of the Year, which is the lone entry by a female artist in the category.

Carrie was excited about her nominations, as she told The Associated Press:

"There is nothing more rewarding than to be recognized by your peers and to know your fans are enjoying the same ride."
Kellie Pickler is the only other Idol alum to be nominated for an award, as her name was one of five entered into the Best New Artist category.
