Chris Daughtry was Idol's first serious mainstream rocker, so it came as no surprise when he delivered a show stopper on Top 24 night back in Season 5 with his rendition of Fuel's "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)." Simon's glowing critique in which he called Chris "the standard" was the first of many that would continue to support his status as a front runner for the title. This one performance, which many consider to be in the Top 5 of the whole season, was so effective that it prompted the members of Fuel to offer Chris a spot in their band as lead singer. Fortunately he was smart enough to turn down the offer, and four times platinum later, Chris would surely agree.
