Jordin Sparks to premiere new single "Battlefield"

As previously known, Jordin Sparks will perform on Idol's Top 3 results show set for Wed., May 13 (Katy Perry will also perform her new single "Waking Up In Vegas"). What was not known at the time was the song she would be performing, and that is no longer a mystery. As reported by SingersRoom.com on Friday:

American Idol winner Jordin Sparks is prepping her sophomore release and according to music insiders, a song titled "Battlefield" will lead off the disc.

The mid-tempo R&B track was written by Grammy nominated producer/songwriter and One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder, whose long list of accolades includes hits for Ashanti, LeToya Luckett, Timbaland, Jennifer Hudson and Rihanna.

The song title sounds like something Tedder would write, and conventional widsom is that the song will have a "Halo" / "Already Gone" vibe, which is great for Jordin but it might be risking coming on the heels of the former. Either way, it will surely be a performance no to miss.
