'Idol' Hot 100: "My Life Would Suck Without You" #22 (5/30/09)

Kelly Clarkson returned to the top of the Billboard's Hot 100 chart as far as tracks by Idol alums are concerned, with an older hit claiming the title by default for the chart week of May 30.

Her single "My Life Would Suck Without You" fell four spots to #22 but was the top Idol-related track thanks to the faltering of Daughtry's latest single, "No Surprise," which tumbled #15-31 in its second week on the chart.

In between the two aforementioned singles, Kelly's latest single, "I Do Not Hook Up," continued its slow and steady rise up the chart to #23, up three spots from the previous week.

This week's debut was Jordin Sparks' brand new single "Battlefield," which got off to a slow start at #32. The single got less digital sales than many expected, possibly due to its $1.29 price tag on the iTunes store, which probably has also been negatively affecting Daughtry's single. Once airplay picks up, however, things should look brighter for "Battlefield."

Two holdovers that held onto the Hot 100 were Kellie Pickler's "Best Days of Your Life," which stayed steady at #57, and Paula Abdul's "(I'm Just) Here For the Music," which fell 10 positions to #97.

Look for a mammoth-sized chart next week when all the tracks from the Season 8 finalists invade the Hot 100.
