Arch, Cook, Daughtry, Jordin at AMAs

The 2008 American Music Awards were full of slurred speeches, botched teleprompter readings, lip-synching and - most importantly - Idol alums, as three took home awards, four presented awards and one just didn't show up.

The AMAs were kicked off with a red carpet fest that was serenaded by David Cook and got Daughtry and David Archuleta to give their two cents to the camera. Later on, Cook showed up during the broadcast with less guyliner to introduce Taylor Swift as she performed "White Horse." Arch on the other hand was the butt of Jimmy Kimmel's jokes throughout the show, most of them referencing his age. He made a brief appearance when he presented the "Favorite Country Male Artist" award to Brad Paisley with Shallene Woodley that you can watch below:

Carrie Underwood, while M.I.A. for a leg of her Carnival Ride tour north of the border tonight, lost out to Swift in the "Favorite Female Country Artist" award but took home the "Favorite Country Album" award off the broadcast, leading her to thank the fans for the award via a blog.

While the girl in the yellow dress (Jordin Sparks) didn't take home anything during the show, she won "Favorite Artist - Adult Contemporary Music" prior to the broadcast and presented the award for "Favorite Rap/Hip Hop Artist" with a mole-less Enrique Iglesias.

But it was Daughtry that got the biggest on-show props. After presenting the award for "Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist" to Rihanna, the band took home "Favorite Band, Duo or Group - Pop/Rock" instead of Coldplay. One can argue that was a bit of a shock, but IDOL LIVE will take it. Watch the guys' acceptance speech below:

All in all the Idol alums represented well, just it's amazing with all the performances that were squeezed into three hours, none were able to secure a performance slot. Maybe next year...
