Phil Stacey leaves Lyric Street

Phil Stacey is the latest casualty of selling few copies of his debut album and joins a long list of Idol alums that have been either dropped or terminated their contracts due to low sales.

Billboard.biz reported that Phil and his label, Lyric Street Records, have parted ways. One can only imagine it is the result of Phil's debut album's sales, which have topped off at 36k copies since its April 29 release. Hopefully he can find a nice home at an indie label, or maybe he can become a songwriter.

Regardless of the drop, Phil is still scheduled to be serving as the grand marshal of the 2008 Nashville Christmas Parade. It will kick off at the corner of 6th and Broadway and will end at JP Field. The parade will be held on Fri., Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.

Phil sounded excited in his latest bulletin he posted a while back. He didn't go into details, but he told a fan that he was thinking of putting out a Christian album and including his original song, "Old Glory" on it. Phil is already a songwriter. Some time back he shared about having met with some names in Nashville to write. For a while, he had a song called "Search Me, O God," which is his own, showing on mediabase and I believe some Christian stations played it. Right now, he has a song playing as the background for a youtube video posted by someone who attended a concert he held at a church in Ada, OK. A fan who has known him since his days in Wichita, KS, said that he had put out 2 albums with songs to be sung in church. I am sure some of the songs on there are his own. Phil is not new to songwriting or any other part of the music business. He studied vocal performance at Lee University and had worked at a studio during his studies. zand because he is a Navy reservist now, he makes appearances with the Navy, where he does sing. He has gained fans since he has toured this whole year. I, as one of his "phans," can't wait to see what he will have coming up. And besides being the grand marshal, he will also be appearing in the Chevy Country calendar, available to subscribers of magazines like coutnry Weekly and People, and it is also available for download. He appears in November, and is also on some subsequent pages.
